A slice of Tulum magic now lives in the heart of New York City. Grupo GITANO brings its signature style, lush jungle vibes, and mezcal-soaked evenings to the Seaport at Pier 17, marking the opening of GITANO NYC, the brand’s first permanent location in the United States. Over a decade ago, GITANO Tulum was born in the jungle, quickly becoming one of Tulum’s most iconic dining destinations. Now, this global hospitality brand known for its tropical aesthetic, dazzling disco balls, and modern Mexican cuisine is raising the bar once again, this time in the heart of Manhattan.
FROM THE JUNGLE TO THE CITY
GITANO NYC is more than a restaurant, it’s a full-blown escape. The sprawling 14,000-square-foot venue is located at the South Street Seaport and, complete with dramatic 30-foot ceilings, chandelier-studded interiors, tropical greenery, and skyline views from the most impressive terrace, that rival any in the city. It’s a sensory journey from the moment you arrive: the glint of dimly lit dancing off the mirrored disco ball, and the rhythm of curated beats echoing through the space. The vibe is unmistakably GITANO - seductive, elevated, and unforgettable.
As the doors opened, we celebrated with delicious food, cocktails, and lots of glamour! New York City's legendary icons and IT kids all donned fierce jungle looks and transported us back in time to a major NY Moment: GITANO Cabaret debuted in NYC, with Violet Chachki delivering a high glamour fire show. The night was punctuated by an intimate and sublime performance by FKA twigs, who gifted us with tears and chills during her stunning rendition of "Somewhere Over The Rainbow." The beats kept the energy high as Amber Valentine, VERSA, and Tom&Collins pumped the house down, rendering the evening truly unforgettable.
MEXICAN FLAVOURS, MANHATTAN ENERGY
At the heart of it all is the menu: bold, flavour-packed dishes rooted in Mexican tradition and designed to be shared. Think: fresh ceviches, crowd-favourite tacos, smoky grilled plates, and vibrant vegetarian options, all elevated with GITANO’s signature flair. Complementing the cuisine is a world-class cocktail program, centred on artisanal mezcal and tequila. Favourites like the “GYPSY DISCO” and “KISSES IN THE CAR” now meet new Manhattan creations, carefully crafted to transport guests from NYC to the beaches of Tulum in a single sip.
